In other news...

...I just threw away yet another failure in an attempt to cook something edible...

...I used too much water to cook the rice (I normally do it right, but I was working with Basmati rice (Indian rice, never worked with it before) in a small package, and I sort of assumed by the guide in the back that it would be four cups, when it was, in hindsight, obviously significantly less than that), and the whole lot of it turned to disgusting goo, and I overcooked the curry chicken to the point of burning away the curry to a crisp and making the chicken tough and dry...

...it was a wholly disgusting affair, to say the least...

...lessons learned:
* Make sure you have the RIGHT ratio of rice to water.
* If you're cooking something in sauce and you're supposed to have sauce left over, only cook said something enough to cook everything that needs to be cooked and reduce everything that needs to be reduced. Basically, anything that's supposed to be saucy, put it in heat only as much as you need to and no longer.

*sigh* Good food really is hard to make.
